The ABB XC 280 is a robust clamp-type connector manufactured by ABB Installation Products, designed for reliable electrical connections. Constructed from durable die-cast zinc, this connector features a 3/8 inch nominal size and a versatile clamping range of 0.18 inches to 0.64 inches, ensuring compatibility with a variety of conductors. Its compact design measures 1.16 inches in length, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. The XC 280 supports a wide range of cable types and sizes, including rigid solid/stranded conductors from 1 x 1 to 2.5 mm², and flexible conductors with or without ferrules from 0.75 to 2.5 mm². It also accommodates lugs with a length less than 8 mm. Connection capacity is rated according to UL/CSA standards for 1 or 2 x AWG 18 to 14 conductors. The stripping length required is 10 mm, and a tightening torque of 1.2 Nm (11 lb.in) is recommended for secure connections. This connector provides an IP20 degree of protection according to IEC/EN 60947-1 and IEC/EN 60529. Screw terminals are delivered in an open position and require tightening for unused terminals. All terminals utilize M3.5 screws, compatible with both flat (Ø 5.5 mm) and Pozidriv 2 screwdrivers.
