This guide provides step-by-step instructions for assembling a WMG-PC22 wire mesh grip strain relief connector onto a portable cord, ensuring proper installation and strain relief.

Flat nose pliers, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Portable cord, WMG-PC22 connector body, Compression gland nut, Wire mesh grip, Bushing, Enclosure (optional)
- Prepare the Cord and Connector Components
As the WMG-PC22 is supplied with a replacement gland nut, remove the original retaining ring and gland nut from the connector body. Cut the end of the portable cord squarely. Slide the compression gland nut onto the prepared cord.
- Install the Wire Mesh Grip and Bushing
Compress the wire mesh grip and slide it onto the cable or cord. If installing on a cord of maximum diameter, carefully preform the wire mesh loops using flat nose pliers as shown in Figure 3 of the documentation. Next, slide the bushing onto the cord.
- Assemble the Connector Body and Secure the Cord
Secure the connector body to the enclosure if using a threaded hub application; for knockout applications, the assembly can be completed before installing to the enclosure. Insert the cord through the connector body to the desired working length for conductors. Slide the bushing into the connector body. Slide the wire mesh grip along the cord until it lays flat against the bushing. Finally, slide the compression gland nut along the mesh and tighten it onto the connector body, smoothing out any slack from the mesh along the cord.
