How to Install a WMG-PC15 Wire Mesh Strain Relief Grip
This guide provides comprehensive instructions for assembling and installing a WMG-PC15 wire mesh grip onto a cable or cord, ensuring proper strain relief and a secure connection to an enclosure.

Cable or Cord, WMG-PC15 Wire Mesh Grip
- Prepare Connector (if applicable)
If a replacement gland nut is supplied with the WMG-PC15 grip, disassemble the existing connector and remove its original retaining ring and gland nut from the connector body.
- Prepare the Cord
Cut the end of the cable or cord squarely to ensure a clean and proper fit.
- Install Gland Nut onto Cord
Slide the compression gland nut, which is part of the WMG-PC15 grip, onto the prepared cord.
- Prepare and Install Wire Mesh
Compress the wire mesh component of the grip and slide it onto the cable or cord. If you are installing on a cord of maximum diameter, carefully preform the wire mesh loops using flat nose pliers to ensure they are round, as shown in Figure 3 of the documentation.
- Install Bushing onto Cord
Slide the bushing component of the WMG-PC15 grip onto the cord, positioning it after the wire mesh.
- Secure Connector Body to Enclosure (if applicable)
For threaded hub applications, secure the main connector body of the WMG-PC15 to the enclosure. For knockout applications, you can complete the grip assembly before installing it to the enclosure.
- Insert Cord into Body and Position Components
Insert the cord through the connector body until the conductors reach the desired working length. Then, slide the bushing into the connector body, and slide the wire mesh along the cord until it lays flat against the bushing. Note: In some installations, the cord jacket may need to be stripped back to allow it to pass through the body.
- Tighten Gland Nut
Slide the compression gland nut along the wire mesh and tighten it securely onto the connector body. Ensure all slack is removed from the mesh by smoothing it out along the cord.
