How to Install the Flood Seal Submersible Splice Cover FSS 20 & FSS 20L

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Flood Seal Submersible Splice Cover FSS 20 & FSS 20L, designed for insulated low voltage cable splices. It ensures watertight integrity and reduced labor costs. Installation must be performed by trained personnel in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Estimated time: 20m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Cutting tool

Supplies needed:

Silicon grease, Silicone sealant, Electrical connector

  1. Select Correct Cut-Off Ring

Select the correct cut-off ring on the rocket sleeve and cap based on the cable size being used (e.g., #14 to #8, #8 to #4, #4 to 1/0).

  2. Prepare Rocket Sleeve and Cap

Cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow corresponding to the selected cut-off ring, ensuring the correct cable size is visible on the opened rocket and cap.

  3. Prepare Cable Insulation

Bevel or pencil the cable insulation by 1/4 inch to facilitate easier installation of the splice cover.

  4. Apply Silicon Grease

Apply silicon grease to the prepared cable insulation.

  5. Position Rocket Sleeve and Cap

Slide the cut rocket sleeve and cap over the prepared cable.

  6. Install Electrical Connector

Install the appropriate electrical connector to join the cable conductors.

  7. Seal the Splice Cover

Apply silicone sealant to the open edge of the rocket sleeve. Then, slide the two halves of the Flood Seal Housing together, centering it over the installed electrical connection to create a watertight seal.
