How to Reconnect the Service Entrance Disconnect System
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely reconnecting single and multi-service entrance disconnect systems, including neutral and hot leg connections.
Tools needed:
Insulating gloves
Supplies needed:
New breakaway link
- Observe Safety Precautions
Always follow standard safety practices when working on energized circuits. Wear insulating gloves rated to the appropriate voltage when installing on live conductors. Ensure the contact block is not under load when making connections, even if energized. This installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules to prevent electric shock.
- Connect the Neutral Pin (Single Service)
For single service reconnection, insert the neutral pin into the neutral socket. After insertion, slide the Flood Seal® insulating rocket down over the mated connector to secure and insulate it.
- Connect the Hot Load-Side Pins (Single Service)
Insert one hot load-side pin into a hot feed-side socket. Slide the cover and cap together to secure the connection. Repeat this process for the other hot feed-side connection.
- Connect the Neutral Pin (Multi Service)
For multi-service reconnection, insert the neutral pin into the contact block. The neutral is located in the center row and is identified with a white marker. Note that the neutral body is oversized and cannot be inserted into a hot leg tower.
- Connect the Hot Leg Pins (Multi Service)
Insert one of the hot leg pins into one of the outer contact block towers. Slide the Flood Seal® insulating rockets over the towers. Do not use silicone grease. Repeat this process for all other hot leg services.
