Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Silicone sealing compound
- Prepare the box
Before mounting the box, close any unused openings with round threaded plugs. Coat the threads liberally with silicone sealing compound, insert the plugs into the unused openings, and tighten firmly.
- Mount the box
Select two of the four small holes in the back of the box that best suit your installation. Attach the mounting lugs using the 1/4" long screws, ensuring they are mounted diagonally from each other.
- Connect the supply wires
Feed the supply wires into the box. Attach the supply wires to the screw terminals on the wiring device by wrapping the wire clockwise around the screw and tightening it. Connect the ground wire to the green screw, the white supply wire to the silver screw, and the black supply wire to the brass screw.
- Secure the receptacle
Push all wiring into the outlet box. Attach the receptacle to the box by installing the screws provided through the elongated slots.
- Install the gasket
Remove the center section of the rectangular gasket. Place the gasket on the back of the cover plate, insert the mounting screws through the holes in the cover plate and gasket, and align them with the holes in the box.
- Attach the cover plate
Secure the cover plate to the box, ensuring the hinge is facing up. The cover must be closed while in use to comply with the National Electrical Code®.
- Verify installation
Lift the cover to unlock and then pull out and up to open the cover. Ensure all connections are secure and that the installation complies with local electrical codes.
