Overview

The ABB OEC2-TB is a 1/2 inch GUAB hazardous location conduit outlet box engineered for robust electrical installations in explosive atmospheres. This outlet box features a ductile iron body with zinc plating for superior corrosion resistance, paired with a die-cast aluminum cover for lightweight durability. With an internal volume of 6.9 cubic inches, the OEC2-TB provides ample space for conductor routing, splicing, and maintenance access in threaded rigid conduit systems. The tapered threaded hubs ensure ground continuity, while smooth integral hub bushings protect conductor insulation during pulling operations. Designed for Class I, Div. 1 & 2 (Groups C, D), Class II, Div. 1 (Groups E, F, G), and Class III hazardous locations, this explosion-proof and dust-ignition-proof unit meets NEMA 3, 4, 7 CD, and 9 EFG standards. Its compact design optimizes space in conduit systems, making it ideal for chemical plants, refineries, and manufacturing facilities where safety and reliability are critical. The OEC2-TB supports conduit sizes up to 1 inch and is available in multiple hub arrangements for flexible installation configurations. The zinc-plated ductile iron construction provides a minimum 1,000-hour salt spray resistance per ASTM B117, ensuring long-term durability in corrosive environments. It is compatible with standard 1/2 inch NPT threaded rigid conduit and features internal grounding points for enhanced safety. The unit’s 6.9 cubic inch volume accommodates up to four 12 AWG conductors or three 10 AWG conductors, as per NEC Table 314.16(A). The OEC2-TB’s design includes a knockout hole for additional conduit entry or cable gland installation, further enhancing its versatility in complex wiring configurations.
