How to Install the JRSX1034HR Plug, Receptacle, or Connector

Step-by-step guide for installing and wiring the JRSX1034HR series plugs, receptacles, and connectors.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Ohmmeter, Wire strippers, Torque wrench, Allen wrenches, Cable cutters

Supplies needed:

Copper wire, Mounting screws, Sealing washers, Lock washers, Nuts

  1. Turn off power

WARNING: ELECTRICAL HAZARD! Ensure all power to the circuit is turned off before beginning installation.

  2. Prepare mounting location

Prepare the mounting location according to the type of device being installed: Method A for junction box, Method B for connector, or Method C for angle enclosure/panel mounting adapter. For panel mounting, drill holes in the enclosure according to the provided dimensions and torque specifications.

  3. Prepare cable and conductors

Strip the cable jacket and conductor insulation to the dimensions specified in Figure 1 or by using the strip gauge on the back of the interior. Select the maximum allowable wire and cable size for the amperage rating from Table 1. Use only copper wire.

  4. Connect conductors to terminals

Insert the stripped end of each conductor into the proper pin or sleeve terminal. Loosen the pressure screws before inserting the conductors. Tighten the pressure screws to the torque values indicated in Figure 2. Attach the ground wire to the designated lug if furnished with the device. Ensure the receptacle ground wire is present and properly secured, and a ground wire is also required from the receptacle to the enclosure ground.

  5. Assemble the device

Assemble the device components (e.g., handle, clamp holder, bushing, gasket, receptacle, connector) according to the specific method (A, B, or C) and device type. Secure clamps firmly to grip the cable. For panel mounting, assemble the receptacle gasket and receptacle to the enclosure using screws, sealing washers, lock washers, and nuts. Orient the receptacle so the flap cap opens upwards.

  6. Assemble cover

Assemble the cover to the receptacle. For watertight devices, attach the screw cap. For weatherproof devices, tighten the set screws on the flap cover.

  7. Perform electrical tests

Before connecting to power, perform continuity checks with an ohmmeter to verify correct phasing and grounding. Check insulation resistance to ensure there are no short circuits or unwanted grounds. Refer to the datasheet or nameplate for specific voltage, frequency, or current ratings.

  8. Apply power and test system

Once all electrical tests are successfully completed, connect all devices in the system, turn the power on, and test the system's operation.
