Screwdriver, Wire brush, Hydraulic crimping tool
Supplies needed:
KOPR-SHIELD® Compound, Square head bolt, I-Beam ground connector
- Clean the ground wire
Use emery cloth or a wire brush to remove all dirt and foreign matter from the ground wire.
- Prepare the structural member
Remove paint, scale, or other foreign matter from the structural member where the ground connector will be clamped.
- Apply KOPR-SHIELD® Compound
Apply a thin layer of T&B’s KOPR-SHIELD® Compound onto the cleaned structural steel member.
- Position the connector
Place the flat surface of the connector tongue onto the treated structural steel member, ensuring the centering washer is properly positioned.
- Crimp the connector
Select the appropriate installing die and crimp the I-Beam ground connector onto the ground wire, ensuring the flat surface of the connector tongue faces the structural steel member.
- Fasten the clamp
Tighten the square head bolt until it shears off at approximately 625 in/lbs, ensuring the rounded bolt tip is properly seated in the centering washer.
