How to Install the Flood Seal Submersible Splice Cover FSS 20 L

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Flood Seal Submersible Splice Cover FSS 20 L to create a watertight splice for low voltage cables. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety rules to prevent electric shock.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Utility knife, Cable stripping tool, Crimping tool (if applicable)

Supplies needed:

Flood Seal Submersible Splice Cover FSS 20 L, Silicone grease, Electrical connector (appropriate for cable size), Silicone sealant

  1. Select and Prepare Splice Cover

Identify the correct cut-off ring on the Flood Seal rocket sleeve and cap based on the cable size being used. Carefully cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow, ensuring the correct cable size marking remains visible on the opened rocket and cap.

  2. Prepare Cable Insulation

Bevel or 'pencil' the cable insulation by approximately 1/4 inch (6mm) for ease of installation.

  3. Apply Grease and Position Cover

Apply silicone grease to the prepared cable ends. Then, slide the cut rocket sleeve and cap over the prepared cable, positioning it ready for the connector installation.

  4. Install Electrical Connector

Install the appropriate electrical connector to join the cable conductors. Ensure the connection is secure and meets all applicable electrical codes.

  5. Seal the Splice Cover

Apply silicone sealant to the open edge of the rocket sleeve. Carefully slide the two halves of the Flood Seal Housing together, centering it precisely over the installed electrical connection to create a watertight seal.
