Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Cable cutting tool, Insulation stripper or utility knife
Supplies needed:
Silicon grease, Silicone sealant, Electrical connector
- Select the Correct Cut-off Ring
Select the appropriate cut-off ring for the specific cable size you are using to ensure a proper fit for the splice cover.
- Prepare Rocket Sleeve and Cap
Cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow. Ensure that the correct cable size marking remains visible on the opened rocket and cap after cutting.
- Prepare Cable Insulation
Bevel or pencil the cable insulation by approximately 1/4 inch. This preparation will facilitate easier installation of the splice cover.
- Apply Silicon Grease
Apply silicon grease to the prepared cable insulation. This aids in sliding the cover over the cable smoothly.
- Slide Rocket and Cap Over Cable
Slide the pre-cut rocket sleeve and cap over the prepared cable, positioning it appropriately for the splice connection.
- Install Electrical Connector
Install the electrical connector onto the prepared cable ends, ensuring a secure and proper connection according to manufacturer specifications.
- Seal and Close Housing
Apply silicone sealant to the open edge of the rocket sleeve. Then, carefully slide the two halves of the Flood Seal Housing together, centering the housing precisely over the installed electrical connection to create a watertight seal.
