How to Install EYVF-33 Sealing Fittings (Vertical Installation)

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the vertical installation of EYV series sealing fittings, including proper wiring, damming, and compound pouring procedures to ensure a safe and effective seal.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Basic Hand Tools, Wire Strippers, Mixing Tool

Supplies needed:

EYV Series Sealing Fitting (e.g., EYVF-33), Red Dot® EXPF Packing Fiber, Red Dot® EXSC Compound, Electrical Wires

  1. De-energize Electrical Circuits

WARNING: De-energize all electrical circuits prior to and during installation and maintenance to prevent electrical shock and ensure safety.

  2. Install Sealing Fitting and Pull Wires

Install the EYV series sealing fitting in the correct vertical orientation as indicated in Table 1 of the product documentation. Carefully pull the electrical wires through the fitting, ensuring they are ready for the sealing process.

  3. Remove Seal Plug

Locate and carefully remove the seal plug from the sealing fitting to prepare for damming and compound pouring.

  4. Dam Lower Hub Opening

Using Red Dot® EXPF packing fiber, dam the lower hub opening of the fitting. IMPORTANT: Ensure the packing fibers completely separate individual conductors from each other and from the fitting walls to prevent compound leakage and ensure proper sealing.

  5. Mix and Pour Sealing Compound

Mix the Red Dot® EXSC compound precisely according to its product directions. Refer to Table 1 in the documentation for the approximate amount of compound required based on the specific fitting size. Carefully pour the mixed compound into the fitting.

  6. Replace Seal Plug

Once the compound has been poured, replace the seal plug. Ensure the plug engages at least five full threads to create a secure and tight seal.

  7. Allow Compound to Set

Allow a minimum of 72 hours setting time for the Red Dot® EXSC compound to fully cure. Do not re-energize the electrical circuits until the compound has completely set to ensure the integrity of the seal.
