Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Handsaw, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
#8 x 3/4 screws, Duct tape, Terminal connectors, Grounding lug
- Prepare the installation site
Ensure the area is clear and level. Mark a line 3/16" below the desired final height of the brass cover's top surface.
- Cut the floor box to height
Using a handsaw, cut off the box at the marked height. Ensure that no more than 1.5" is removed from the top to maintain structural integrity.
- Mount the floor box
Secure the floor box in place, ensuring it is level and flush with the surrounding surface. Use duct tape to hold it in position if necessary.
- Install the yoke
Align the yoke in the floor box slots and move it to the desired level. Insert #8 x 3/4" pan head screws into the angled holes at the ends of the yoke and tighten.
- Connect electrical devices
Attach conductors to the electrical device (e.g., duplex or GFCI). Use the grounding lug and green ground screw provided with the yoke for proper grounding.
- Install the cover
Attach the cover to the floor box by inserting #8 x 1 1/8" pan head screws into the angled holes at the ends of the cover and tightening them securely.
- Calibrate and test
After installation, turn on the power supply and use a multimeter to verify that the electrical connections are functioning correctly.
