How to Install the DF 22 Flood-Seal Disconnectable Dead Front Secondary Transformer Connector
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for mounting the DF 22 Flood-Seal Disconnectable Dead Front Secondary Transformer Connector onto a transformer and installing its accessory rocket sleeves. Installation must be performed by trained installers following all applicable electrical codes, installation standards, and safety rules to prevent electric shock.

Torque wrench, Wire strippers, Wire brush, Prescribed lug installation tool and die
Supplies needed:
Silicone insulation, Silicone grease, Proper lug, Nut and washer, Accessory rocket sleeves
- Prepare Transformer Stud Hole
Remove the pull-tab plug from the transformer stud hole. Then, remove the waterproof access cap that covers the transformer stud set screw.
- Mount DF Series Connector onto Transformer
Loosen the set screw on the connector. Carefully slip the connector over the stud of the transformer and position it correctly. Tighten the set screw to a torque of 300 in./lbs. Finally, replace the waterproof access cap over the transformer stud set screw.
- Prepare Cable for Rocket Sleeve Installation
Strip the cable insulation to the required length for the connector. 'Pencil' the insulation by tapering the end. Thoroughly wire brush the exposed conductor.
- Apply Silicone Insulation to Cable
Apply silicone insulation to the penciled end of the cable. Spread the silicone insulation evenly around the tapered section.
- Determine Rocket Ring Size
Refer to the provided table (in the original documentation) to accurately determine the correct rocket ring size for the specific cable being used.
- Cut Rocket Ring
Cut the rocket ring at the tip of the arrow, ensuring that the correct size range for your cable remains visible on the ring.
- Prepare Cable Entrance and Push Rocket Sleeve
Apply silicone grease on the edge of the opened cable entrance. Carefully push the rocket sleeve onto the cable(s).
- Install and Mount Lug
Install the proper lug onto the cable using the prescribed tool and die. Mount the lug onto the contact pad stud. Reinstall the nut and washer, and torque them to the manufacturer's specified value.
- Position Rocket Sleeve
Add silicone grease to the edge of the elliptical rubber shoulder on the connector. Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug and onto the elliptical shoulder until the rocket butts firmly against the connector insulation body.
