How to Operate and Maintain the CSR750 Ratchet Cable Cutter
This guide provides instructions for the safe operation, routine maintenance, and sharpening of the CSR750 Ratchet Cable Cutter, designed for cables up to 750 MCM with a maximum O.D. of 1.25 inches.

Oil, Grit cleaner
- Observe Safety Warnings
Before operating, wear safety goggles. Keep fingers and other body parts away from the cutting blade and closure points. Never cut steel, ACSR, or live conductors to prevent injury and damage to the tool.
- Prepare the Blades for Cutting
Turn the direction knob (A) to the desired position to either open or close the blades. For rapid blade movement, push and hold the fast action thumb slide (B) forward while moving the handles. This permits handles to open farther for faster blade movement.
- Perform the Cable Cut
Once the blades are positioned around the cable, move the handles open and closed. The blade will ratchet as indicated by the direction knob (A) to cut the cable. Be aware that using the fast action mode for cutting will reduce leverage and require greater force.
- Clean and Lubricate Blades
After use, keep the blades clean and regularly oiled to ensure smooth operation and longevity. Clean off any grit or debris from the blades.
- Periodically Tighten Fasteners
Periodically check and tighten the fulcrum nut to 220-250 in. lb. torque and the handle bolts to 30-50 in. lb. torque to maintain tool integrity and prevent loosening during operation.
- Sharpen Blades (If Necessary)
If blades become dull, sharpen them by stoning the wiping surface flat near the edge. Next, stone the existing 35º angle to remove nicks. Then, stone very lightly on a 45º angle to remove burrs. Finally, clean blades of any grit.
