This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the B708-SHK ceiling fan pan box securely to a ceiling joist.

#8 x 3/4” screws, #10 x 2” screws, #10 lockwashers
- Locate the ceiling joist
Identify the nearest wood ceiling joist to the desired location for your ceiling fan or fixture.
- Cut the ceiling opening
Using the pan box as a template, mark a 4-5/16” diameter circle centered on the ceiling joist. Carefully cut out the circle of ceiling material with a utility knife.
- Feed the non-metallic cable
Insert 10” to 15” of non-metallic cable through the ceiling opening. Strip 6” to 8” of the outer jacket and 5/8” of the insulating jacket from the wires.
- Secure the pan box
Center the back of the pan box on the ceiling joist and install one #8 x 3/4” screw through the center hole into the joist. Tighten securely.
- Attach the mounting plate
Mount the ceiling fan or fixture mounting plate to the pan box using two #10 x 2” screws and two #10 lockwashers. Ensure screws are tightened snugly.
- Verify installation
Check that all screws are securely tightened and that the pan box is firmly attached to the ceiling joist.
