How to Install the B121BFBRR Floor Box Kit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the B121BFBRR Floor Box Kit, ensuring a secure and compliant setup for your electrical needs.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Dow Corning #4 sealant

  1. Prepare the installation site

Ensure the area where the floor box will be installed is clear of debris and that the subfloor is accessible. Disconnect power to the area to avoid risk of shock.

  2. Install the new work bracket

Use the box as a template to cut an opening in the subfloor. Secure the new work bracket to the joist using four (4) #6x1-3/4” self-tapping screws, ensuring it is level and properly aligned.

  3. Wire the receptacle

Pull the Romex wire through the desired clamp and wire the receptacle according to the National Electrical Code. Ensure all connections are secure.

  4. Seal and attach the cover

Apply a 1/8 inch bead of Dow Corning #4 sealant around the outside rib of the cover. Align the cover with the receptacle and press it into the box until it is flush.

  5. Secure the cover

Insert the two (2) #6-32x1” flat-head machine screws into the cover holes, tightening them to a maximum of 6 to 8 inch pounds to avoid over-torquing.

  6. Adjust the assembly

Using the adjusting screw, ensure the cover flange is flush with the floor covering. Do not pre-load the cover against the floor.

  7. Finalize the installation

Apply a thin layer of Dow Corning #4 sealant around the cap and cover mating surfaces to ensure a watertight seal. Lock the outlet caps using the coin slot lock on the cover.
