DuraGard Watertight Safety Interlock with Circuit Breaker, 30 480V, 50 Amp with 50 Amp trip ratingHow to Install the DuraGard Safety Interlock
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the DuraGard Safety Interlock to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Ohmmeter, Torque Wrench
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Liquid-tight conduit fitting
- Prepare the installation site
Turn the handle to the 'OFF' position. Remove the cover from the base if attached, and mount the base to a wall or I-beam at a de-energized power drop with the receptacle facing down, using the adjustable mounting feet. Tighten the mounting screws to 20 in. lbs.
- Connect the grounding wire
Attach the ground wire to the grounding hub as per the schematic. Ensure that the same colored/numbered circuits are maintained through each junction, paying special attention to the grounding lead connection.
- Wire the circuit breaker
Loosen the pressure screws on the terminals of the circuit breaker and neutral block if used. Strip the wire ends to 5/8” and insert them into the breaker terminals on the line side. Tighten the screws to the specified torque shown on the breaker.
- Reassemble and test
Ensure the disconnect handle is in the 'OFF' position, then reassemble the cover with screws at a maximum of 20 in. lbs. torque. Perform electrical tests to verify correct phasing and grounding connections using an ohmmeter.
- Finalize installation
Record the catalog number and installation date. Instruct personnel on the operation procedures and ensure all safety warnings are communicated.
