This plug fits connectors sized for 4 AWG wires, covering the set screws used to tighten their connections. Protect the interior of your Polaris pre-insulated connectors, each port of which is pre-loaded with an oxide inhibitor to ensure a low-contact resistance connection, by guarding the set screws from outside contaminants. Polaris designs connectors for use in a wide range of splicing applications, including installation in cable trays, panel boards, ducts, raceways or troughs.

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Gasket

  1. Turn off power

    Ensure that all power to the circuit is turned OFF to prevent electrical shock during installation.

  2. Mount the junction box

    Securely mount junction box #1 (purchased separately) in the desired location and pull the service supply cable into the box, leaving enough length for connections.

  3. Prepare the cable

    Strip the cable jacket 1 to 2 inches and strip the conductors 1/2 inch for 30 & 50A or 3/4 inch for 60A.

  4. Connect conductors

    Loosen the pressure screws in the receptacle sleeves, insert the stripped ends of each conductor according to the established wiring pattern, and tighten the screws to the specified torque.

  5. Assemble the receptacle

    Assemble the gasket and receptacle to junction box #1 using the provided screws, ensuring a secure fit.

  6. Perform electrical tests

    Use an ohmmeter to check continuity and verify correct phasing and grounding connections before turning the power back on.

  7. Turn on power and test

    Once all connections are verified, turn the power ON and test the system to ensure proper functionality.
