Overview

ABB Installation Products SKU 9357-NB is a liquid-tight 90-degree fitting designed for secure conduit connections in industrial environments. This nickel-plated brass fitting features M63 metric threading and a 2-inch trade size, providing robust mechanical strength and corrosion resistance in moisture or mild chemical exposure. The 90-degree angle optimizes conduit pathways in tight spaces or around obstacles, making it ideal for manufacturing plants, processing facilities, and other demanding industrial settings. The liquid-tight design prevents ingress of liquids, dust, and contaminants, ensuring reliable protection for electrical systems. Compatible with liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, this fitting meets UL 514B and CSA C22.2 No. 18.3 standards, including assembly, resistance, pull, material aging, and current withstand requirements. It also complies with IEC/EN 61386-1, -23 standards for impact resistance (6 Joules), tensile strength (500 N/2 min), and IP66, IP67, IP68, and IP69 ingress protection ratings. Included with the fitting is a locknut for secure installation, and the product is intended for use with threaded openings. Installation must follow applicable national and local electrical codes, with proper tightening procedures as recommended by UL, CSA, and NEMA guidelines.

How to Install T&B Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fittings

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit (LFMC) Fittings, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or Power Band Saw, Metal Jig, Wrench, Hammer, Standard Screwdriver

Supplies needed:

Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit (LFMC), T&B Liquid-Tight Fitting (e.g., 9334-NB), T&B Series LNB Locknuts (if needed), T&B Series 5260 Seal Gaskets (if needed), Protective Gloves, Safety Glasses

  1. Prepare for Installation and Observe Safety

Before starting, read and understand all instructions and safety information. Disconnect power to prevent risk of shock. Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

  2. Cut the Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit (LFMC)

Using a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch at max 400 ft/min), cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. DO NOT use an abrasive wheel for cutting.

  3. Assemble the Fitting Components onto the Conduit

First, slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end.

  4. Install the Fitting into the Box Wall

Insert the assembled fitting into the knockout opening of the box wall. For knockout applications, use a T&B Series LNB locknut and a T&B Series 5260 seal gasket (purchased separately) on the inside of the box wall to secure the fitting.

  5. Tighten the Gland Nut

Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended torque value specified in the product table (e.g., 1600 lb-in for 9334-NB). Ensure a secure, liquid-tight connection.

  6. Secure the Locknut (if applicable)

If using a locknut, hand-tighten it, then further tighten it by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to meet UL, CSA, and NEMA recommendations.
