Overview

The ABB Installation Products 9355-NB liquid-tight 90° fitting provides a secure, leak-resistant connection for liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit (LFMC) systems. Constructed from nickel-plated brass, this fitting ensures corrosion resistance and long-term durability in industrial environments. The M40 threaded connection accommodates 1-1/4" trade size liquid-tight conduit, offering a precise fit for electrical and data cable protection applications. Designed for wet or hazardous locations, this fitting maintains system integrity by preventing moisture ingress and mechanical stress. Typical applications include manufacturing plants, chemical processing facilities, and outdoor installations where environmental protection is critical. The 90° bend allows for efficient routing of conduit while minimizing space constraints in tight installations. Compatible with standard LFMC, this fitting meets industry requirements for electrical safety and mechanical strength. The nickel plating enhances corrosion resistance, extending service life in corrosive atmospheres. Installation requires no special tools beyond standard conduit threading equipment, reducing labor costs and downtime. Includes a locknut for secure fastening per UL 514B and CSA C22.2 No. 18.3 requirements.

How to Install T&B Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fittings

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit (LFMC) Fittings, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or Power Band Saw, Metal Jig, Wrench, Hammer, Standard Screwdriver

Supplies needed:

Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit (LFMC), T&B Liquid-Tight Fitting (e.g., 9334-NB), T&B Series LNB Locknuts (if needed), T&B Series 5260 Seal Gaskets (if needed), Protective Gloves, Safety Glasses

  1. Prepare for Installation and Observe Safety

Before starting, read and understand all instructions and safety information. Disconnect power to prevent risk of shock. Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

  2. Cut the Liquid-Tight Flexible Metal Conduit (LFMC)

Using a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch at max 400 ft/min), cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. DO NOT use an abrasive wheel for cutting.

  3. Assemble the Fitting Components onto the Conduit

First, slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end.

  4. Install the Fitting into the Box Wall

Insert the assembled fitting into the knockout opening of the box wall. For knockout applications, use a T&B Series LNB locknut and a T&B Series 5260 seal gasket (purchased separately) on the inside of the box wall to secure the fitting.

  5. Tighten the Gland Nut

Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended torque value specified in the product table (e.g., 1600 lb-in for 9334-NB). Ensure a secure, liquid-tight connection.

  6. Secure the Locknut (if applicable)

If using a locknut, hand-tighten it, then further tighten it by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to meet UL, CSA, and NEMA recommendations.
