Instructions for installing the 54865L ground grid connector onto ground rods or rebar.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Rough cloth or brush, Wire brush, Hydraulic tool (13100A, TBM14CR-LI, TBM14M, TBM15CR-LI, TBM15, or TBM15I), Knurling tool (optional, 240-31565-94)
Supplies needed:
Ground rod, Rebar
- Prepare the ground rod or rebar
Ensure the ground rod has been driven to its final depth. If using rebar, ensure it is clean and ready for connection. For smooth ground rods, the use of knurling tool 240-31565-94 is optional.
- Clean the cable
Clean the cable of all visible dirt using a rough cloth or brush. Provide a bright copper finish by wire brushing or a similar process.
- Position the cable
Ensure the cable end(s) protrude at least 3/4” beyond the connector.
- Crimp the connector
WARNING: DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE INSTALLATION. Use the appropriate hydraulic tool and die (as specified in the documentation for your specific 54865L catalog number) to crimp the connector onto the ground rod or rebar and cable. Ensure the die is marked on the part.
