Overview

The ABB Copper C-Tap, SKU 54740, is a heavy-duty compression connector designed for reliable electrical connections in 600V applications. Constructed from high-conductivity copper alloy, this C-Tap provides high-strength and premium electrical properties, suitable for use with solid and stranded copper conductors. It functions effectively as a wire joint, a two-way splice, or for tapping into an unbroken continuous main conductor. The wide wire range-taking capability, accommodating a main conductor size of 1/0 – 2/0 AWG STR and a branch conductor size of #8 – #2 AWG SOL or STR, minimizes inventory requirements for installers. The connector features a plain finish and is identified by Die Code 50 with an orange color code for easy identification during installation. Dimensions include a length of 1-1/16 inches (27 mm), an overall height of 1.32 inches (33.5 mm), and an overall width of 0.93 inches (23.6 mm). It is UL listed and CSA certified to 600V and temperature rated 90°C when crimped with specified tools and dies. This product is certified for AWG wire only and is not UL or CSA approved for metric wire. The wire strip length required is 1-1/16 inches (27 mm). Each standard package contains 10 units. This C-Tap is ideal for applications requiring consistent reliability with heavy wall construction that prevents relaxation of the joint after installation, reducing installation time due to its 'C' shape design.
