Overview

The ABB 54214T is a tin-plated copper two-hole lug engineered for robust electrical connections, particularly in applications demanding high voltage and reliability. This lug is constructed with a standard barrel design, incorporating a peep hole that serves as a critical visual inspection feature. This allows for immediate confirmation of complete conductor insertion, ensuring a secure and effective connection. The ABB 54214T is rated for use in systems up to a maximum of 35kV, signifying its capability in high-voltage environments. Designed for stranded copper conductors, this lug accommodates a substantial wire size range, specifically up to 300 kcmil. This broad capacity makes it suitable for a variety of power distribution needs. For secure mounting, the lug features a 3/8-inch bolt size, and the two mounting holes are spaced 1 inch apart, providing a standardized and reliable interface for connection hardware. The tin plating applied to the copper lug offers superior corrosion resistance, a vital characteristic for maintaining electrical integrity and extending the operational lifespan of the connection, especially in challenging environmental conditions. The lug is precisely manufactured to utilize die code 66 for crimping, and this is further identified by a white color code, simplifying the selection of compatible tooling and ensuring correct application. The ABB 54214T has undergone rigorous testing and meets stringent industry standards. It is UL Listed and CSA certified, confirming its compliance with safety and performance requirements for electrical equipment. Furthermore, it meets NEBS Level 3 testing as defined by Telcordia, indicating its suitability for telecommunications infrastructure where reliability is paramount. Its approval by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) underscores its acceptance for use in marine and offshore applications, where harsh conditions are common. These certifications and approvals collectively position the ABB 54214T as a dependable choice for critical infrastructure projects, including power distribution networks, substations, and other demanding industrial and utility applications.
