Overview

The ABB Copper Parallel Splice (SKU: 540500) is a high-conductivity electrical splice designed for parallel connections of copper conductors in industrial and commercial power distribution systems. Constructed from premium wrought copper with an electro-tin plated finish, this splice ensures superior corrosion resistance and long-term reliability in harsh environments. It accommodates a versatile wire range from (1) #400MCM and (3) #6 to (1) #250MCM and (13) #6, with a circular mil range of 478,000 to 600,000, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications requiring robust terminations. Key features include a seamless tubular barrel design with a chamfered entry to eliminate wire hang-ups and maximize crimp area, ensuring consistent, high-performance crimps with a single compression. The splice is optimized for use with solid or stranded copper conductors, providing a secure, permanent connection with minimal risk of loosening or failure. Its expanded wire entry accommodates wires with thicker insulation, while the internal wire stop ensures proper insertion depth for reliable contact. The brazed seam prevents barrel splitting during crimping, enhancing mechanical integrity and electrical continuity. It is compatible with hydraulic and battery-operated crimping tools, including the TBM6H, TBM12, 13100A, TBM15I, 21940, BPLT6BSCR, BPLT62BSCR, BLT14BSCR, and BPLT15BSCR. The splice meets UL 486 A, UL 486 B, and CSA C22.2 No. Applications include power distribution panels, motor control centers, industrial machinery, renewable energy systems, and other high-current terminations where reliability and safety are critical. The Color-Keyed® identification system simplifies selection and installation, while the tin-plated finish provides additional protection against oxidation and corrosion.
