How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors, including the 5330 series, for flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

Hacksaw, Power band saw, Metal jig, Smooth jaw wrench, Hand protection, Eye protection
Supplies needed:
Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B liquidtight connector, T&B 140 series locknuts (optional), 5260 series sealing gaskets (optional), PVC cement (optional)
- Observe Safety Precautions
WARNING: Disconnect power before beginning installation to prevent risk of shock. CAUTION: This product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Wear appropriate hand protection and eye protection during the installation process.
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Use a metal jig, a 32-tooth/inch hacksaw, or a 24-32 tooth/inch power band saw (not more than 400 feet/minute for high production). Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble the Connector Components
For 5000, 7000, and 9000 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the conduit. Next, slide on the nylon sealing ring. Finally, thread in the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit end.
- Install and Secure Connector to Enclosure
Insert the connector body into the knockout box. For standard installations, secure it with the provided locknut. For knockout applications, use T&B® 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchase separately). Ensure the 'O' ring is correctly positioned on the outside of the box for applicable series (e.g., 5365 to 5370).
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Secure the conduit by tightening the gland nut to the connector body. Refer to the 'Tightening torque (lb.-in.)' table in the documentation for the specific torque required based on the fitting's trade size (e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8", 300 lb-in for 1/2", 500 lb-in for 3/4").
- Handle PVC Coated Connectors (If Applicable)
If installing a PVC coated connector, use a smooth jaw wrench for tightening to prevent gouging. If gouging occurs and exposes metal, apply PVC cement to the affected area for maximum corrosion protection.
- Complete Chase® Connector Assembly (If Applicable)
For 'Space Saver' Chase® connector assemblies, achieve lock-up by either tightening the Chase® Nipple to the body or by turning the body onto the Chase® Nipple.
