This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing threaded insulated grounding bushings, such as the 3993 series, onto conduit and connecting a bonding jumper.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Torque wrench, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Bonding jumper, Conduit
- Thread the Bushing onto Conduit
Thread the insulated grounding bushing onto the conduit until it bottoms. If necessary, you may back off the bushing slightly to align the lay-in lug in the desired position.
- Secure the Bushing
Tighten the set screw to firmly secure the bushing onto the conduit. Ensure the bushing is stable and properly seated.
- Connect the Bonding Jumper
Install a bonding jumper (not supplied) into the lay-in lug. For copper conductors, torque the wire clamping screw to 200 Lb.In. For aluminum stranded conductors, torque to 35 Lb.In. Do not use this lug with aluminum solid conductors.
