How to Install the 3880 Insulated Grounding Bushing

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the 3880 Insulated Grounding Bushing onto a conduit, securing it, and connecting a bonding jumper.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Conduit, Bonding jumper

  1. Thread Bushing onto Conduit

Thread the 3880 insulated grounding bushing onto the conduit until it bottoms. If necessary, the bushing may be backed off slightly to align the lay-in lug in the desired position.

  2. Secure Bushing

Tighten the set screw to firmly secure the bushing onto the conduit.

  3. Install Bonding Jumper

Install a bonding jumper (not supplied) into the lay-in lug. Torque the wire clamping screw to the values specified in the torque table. For the 3880 series, this is 35 Lb.In for 14-4 AWG copper or aluminum conductors.
