Overview

The ABB 90-degree watertight fitting (SKU 10605) is a heavy-duty malleable iron conduit fitting designed for jacketed metal-clad (MC) cable installations requiring a 90-degree bend. Engineered with a 3/4-inch tapered hub thread, this fitting ensures a secure, leak-proof connection in demanding industrial environments where moisture, dust, or corrosive conditions are present. The fitting includes a protective grounding sleeve for electrical safety and system integrity, meeting UL and CSA requirements for watertight and liquidtight applications. Key features include a double-bevel sealing ring and safe-edge ground cone for enhanced cable protection, preventing abrasion and maintaining electrical continuity. The neoprene bushing accommodates cable diameters from 1.055 to 1.205 inches, providing a snug seal against environmental ingress. The hexagonal body and gland nut design facilitate easy installation and removal, while the aluminum gland nut resists corrosion in harsh conditions. This fitting is ideal for hazardous locations, including Class I, Division 2; Class II, Division 1; and Class III environments, as specified in CEC rules. It is compatible with corrugated-jacketed metal-clad cable exposed to intermittent or continuous moisture, ensuring reliable performance in critical infrastructure, manufacturing plants, and outdoor installations. The malleable iron construction delivers superior strength and durability, making it a cost-effective solution for long-term reliability in industrial electrical systems.

How to Install a Jacketed Metal Clad Cable Connector (10605)

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the 10605 jacketed metal clad cable connector with a set screw type grounding sleeve on Teck or jacketed MC type cable. Ensure all circuits are de-energized before beginning installation.

Estimated time: 20m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Screwdriver, Wrench

Supplies needed:

Jacketed Metal Clad Cable (Teck or MC type), 10605 Cable Connector, Protective Grounding Sleeve

  1. De-energize Circuits

CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Before installing or maintaining, verify that all circuits are de-energized to prevent electrical shock.

  2. Strip Cable Jacketing

Strip off the cable jacketing to the length of the Protective Grounding Sleeve. Exercise caution to avoid nicking or cutting the conductor insulation during this process.

  3. Install Protective Grounding Sleeve

Slip the Protective Grounding Sleeve over the exposed armor of the cable.

  4. Insert Cable into Connector

Push the prepared cable into the connector body until it reaches the armor stop.

  5. Tighten Set-Screws

Tighten the set-screws to 35 in.-lbs or until the head of each screw is flush with the connector body. This secures the cable within the connector.

  6. Tighten Gland Nut

Tighten the gland nut firmly to complete the connection and provide a secure seal.
