IDFIX is an identifier circuit which gives each Pluto an address on the bus. It contains an identification code which can be read by the system. The identification code is declared in the PLC program so that the correct part of the PLC program is executed by each specific Pluto. The use of IDFIX is mandatory in a multi-Pluto project, but voluntary if a unit works alone. If one Pluto in a multi-Pluto project needs to be replaced it is possible to let the new Pluto selfload the PLC program from another Pluto on the bus. The IDFIX will ensure that the new Pluto has the correct address on the bus.

What is the difference between IDFIX-R and IDFIX-RW?
The IDFIX-R has a pre-programmed unique identification number, while the IDFIX-RW allows users to customize the identification number for flexibility in multi-Pluto systems.
Is the IDFIX-RW mandatory for multi-Pluto projects?
Yes, the IDFIX-RW (or IDFIX-R) is mandatory when multiple Pluto units are connected to the Pluto Safety bus.
Can the IDFIX-RW store AS-i safety codes?
No, the IDFIX-RW does not store AS-i safety codes. For this functionality, use the IDFIX-DATA (SKU: 2TLA020070R2300).
Is the IDFIX-RW compatible with standalone Pluto units?
Yes, the IDFIX-RW can be used with standalone Pluto units but is optimized for multi-device configurations.
How does the IDFIX-RW simplify Pluto unit replacement?
The IDFIX-RW enables new Pluto units to self-load the PLC program from an existing Pluto on the bus, automatically assigning the correct address without manual configuration.
What is the mounting type for the IDFIX-RW?
The IDFIX-RW is designed for DIN rail mounting, allowing easy integration into control panels.
What communication protocols does the IDFIX-RW support?
The IDFIX-RW supports AS-i safety networks and Modbus communication protocols for industrial safety systems.
What power supply does the IDFIX-RW require?
The IDFIX-RW operates on the 24V DC input provided by the Pluto Safety Relay.
How to Install the ABB IDFIX-RW Identifier Circuit (2TLA020070R2100)
Step-by-step guide to mounting and connecting the IDFIX-RW to a Pluto Safety Relay.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
DIN rail, Mounting screws
- Mount the IDFIX-RW to the DIN rail
Position the IDFIX-RW module on the DIN rail and secure it using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the module is firmly attached to prevent vibration-related issues.
- Connect the IDFIX-RW to the Pluto Safety Relay
Align the IDFIX-RW with the Pluto Safety Relay’s bus connector and press firmly to establish a secure connection. Verify the module is fully seated to ensure proper communication.
- Configure the identification number
Use the Pluto Safety software or HMI panel to program the desired identification number into the IDFIX-RW. This number must match the PLC program’s expected address for the Pluto unit.
- Verify communication and address assignment
Power on the system and use the PLC or HMI to confirm the Pluto unit has received the correct address from the IDFIX-RW. Check for any communication errors in the system diagnostics.
