How to Create a 90-degree Bend in QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray

Learn to form a precise 90-degree bend in QUICK TRAY PRO cable tray sections using the specified cutting and fastening techniques for a custom installation.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC)

Supplies needed:

QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray section, Splice Kit (QTPBNWK or QTPBNWKBLK), Splice Washer (QTPSSW3 or QTPSSW3BLK)

  1. Determine Cutting Pattern and Mark Bend Location

Review the cutting pattern for your specific tray size and desired 90-degree bend. At the desired bend location, identify and mark the wires that must be cut as shown in the red areas on the provided drawings.

  2. Cut the Side Wires

Using the Hoffman side action bolt cutter, cut all the side wires at the marked bend location. Position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and make each cut at an angle away from the new end. Ensure each cut is clean to minimize sharp edges and prevent snagging.

  3. Bend the Cable Tray

Turn the cable tray onto its uncut side. Smoothly and carefully bend the tray upwards until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet, forming the 90-degree angle.

  4. Secure the Bend

Fasten the formed bend at the indicated locations using the appropriate Splice Kits (QTPBNWK or QTPBNWKBLK) and Splice Washers (QTPSSW3 or QTPSSW3BLK) for your tray width. Ensure all connections are secure to maintain the bend's integrity.
