How to Cut, Bend, and Connect QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections
This guide provides instructions for accurately cutting, forming 90-degree bends, and securely connecting QUICK TRAY PRO™ cable tray sections to create custom cable management pathways.

- Plan Your Tray Layout and Identify Cut Locations
Before making any cuts, carefully review your desired cable tray configuration. Decide which wires must be cut for specific modifications like bends, tees, or length adjustments. For complex shapes, consult the cutting patterns provided in the manual for your specific tray size and desired bend to ensure correct wire removal.
- Cut the Top Side Wire
Always use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC) for precision cuts. Position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire of the top side wire. Make a clean, angled cut away from the new end. This specialized cutter minimizes sharp edges and helps protect the new cut from corrosion.
- Cut Remaining Side Wires
Continue cutting the remaining side wires along the planned cut line. For each cut, ensure the cutting jaws rest firmly on the cradle wire and the cut is made at an angle away from the new end. Strive for one clean cut per wire to eliminate the need for grinding or touch-up.
- Cut the Bottom Wires
Turn the cable tray over and cut the bottom wires from the underside. Similar to the side wires, always rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and make an angled cut away from the new end. Ensure each bottom wire is cut cleanly in a single action.
- Form a 90-degree Bend
If creating a 90-degree bend, ensure all necessary side and bottom wires have been cut according to the specific pattern for your tray width. Turn the tray onto its uncut side. Smoothly bend the tray upwards until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet, forming the desired 90-degree angle.
- Secure Tray Sections with Splice Kits
For any connection, including bends, elbows, tees, or joining straight sections, use QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers. Fasten the components securely at the designated locations, ensuring proper alignment and stability. For 90-degree bends, fasten the splice kits and washers at the indicated points to secure the bend.
