Overview

The nVent Syspend Vertical Motion Floorpost with Junction Box (SKU: FLOORPOST) provides a robust mounting solution for Syspend VL and VHD Motion Arms when structural surfaces are unavailable. Constructed from heavy-wall 3.5-inch structural steel tube welded to a 12 x 12 x 3/8-inch baseplate, it offers exceptional stability. The light-gray polyester powder paint finish (RAL 7035) ensures corrosion resistance. This floorpost integrates a fully gasketed 16-gauge junction box with molded ABS construction, designed to protect internal wiring. It features two adjustable conduit knockouts (1/2" or 3/4" trade sizes), an internal CAT5 coupler, and finger-safe power terminals for flexible and safe field wiring. The fluted cable routing design minimizes bend radii and prevents cable damage. Ideal for automation, robotics, and HMI mounting in demanding industrial environments, it eliminates the need for wall or ceiling mounting. Optional accessory handle kits (CHDLK) are available for easy enclosure repositioning. Backed by nVent's engineering excellence, the FLOORPOST is built to withstand harsh industrial conditions. Dimensions: 11.90 x 11.90 x 74.00 inches. Weight: 65.0 lbs (29.48 kg).

How to Install the VL-Motion Arm

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and adjusting the VL-Motion Arm, ensuring proper functionality and safety.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, 1/8 inch Allen wrench, Spanner wrench

Supplies needed:

Bronze bushing, Flange axle, Mounting screws

  1. Install the mounting end

Remove the access cap and pass the Flange Axle through the plastic bushing and the arm. Install the bronze bushing between the arm and the mount, then screw the Flange Axle into the mount.

  2. Adjust the release cable

Adjust the release cable by turning the black cable adjuster screw until the free-play in the release handle is approximately 3/8 in. (9.5 mm). Ensure that the cable is not too tight or too loose.

  3. Adjust the swivel friction

Loosen the inner set screw on the arm end using a 1/8 inch Allen wrench. Turn the Flange Axle with the spanner wrench to achieve the desired swivel friction, then re-tighten the set screws to 30 in-lbs (3.4 N-M).

  4. Adjust the counterbalance force

Lower the arm and insert a #2 Phillips screwdriver into the valve actuator hole. Pump the screwdriver gently to release gas from the spring until the desired counterbalance force is achieved. Always wear safety glasses during this adjustment.
