How to Install Copper Compression Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing copper compression connectors, ensuring secure and reliable electrical connections.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Crimping tool, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Copper compression connectors, Wire brush, Insulation tape

  1. Strip the wire insulation

Carefully strip the insulation from the conductor without nicking the strands. Ensure the stripped length allows the conductor to fill the barrel of the connector completely.

  2. Clean the conductor

Use a wire brush to clean the stripped portion of the conductor, removing any oxide films to ensure a good electrical connection.

  3. Insert the conductor into the connector

Insert the cleaned and stripped conductor completely into the barrel of the connector, ensuring it is fully seated.

  4. Crimp the connector

Using the appropriate crimping tool, apply pressure to crimp the connector securely onto the conductor. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for crimp locations.

  5. Verify the connection

Use a multimeter to check the continuity and ensure a proper electrical connection. If necessary, re-crimp the connector.
