Overview

The ABB XD8NM (SKU: XD8NM) is a Carlon® non-metallic expansion/deflection coupling designed for rigid PVC conduit systems requiring movement accommodation. This 3-inch coupling is engineered to meet the requirements of 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 300.4(H), making it suitable for use where raceways cross structural joints intended for expansion, contraction, or deflection in buildings, bridges, and parking garages. It provides a flexible connection, safely accommodating axial or parallel deflection of up to 3/4" and angular deflection of up to 30° from its relaxed position. The coupling features smooth gray PVC ends and an inner sleeve for a constant, smooth inner diameter, easing wire pulling and preventing insulation damage. The natural black molded neoprene outer jacket offers superior corrosion resistance and protection, suitable for wet locations, direct burial, or embedded in concrete. Tamperproof stainless steel straps ensure a secure fit. Installation is up to five times faster than traditional methods, potentially reducing SKU count by up to 5-to-1. It is compatible with Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 rigid PVC conduit and is UV resistant. Listings and compliances include cULus Listed and CSA certified to CSA C22.2 No. 85. This coupling is ideal for indoor and outdoor applications in environments such as bridges, piers, parking garages, overhead walkways, and hospitals.
