#8 x 1” screws, #8 x 3-1/2” screws
- Position the wooden support
Nail a wooden 2”x4” centered above the desired ceiling fan location, ensuring the bottom edge is 1-3/4” above the adjacent ceiling joists.
- Install the ceiling fan box
Place the ceiling fan box at the desired location on the bottom edge of the 2”x4”, aligning the four mounting screw holes with the centerline of the 2”x4”.
- Secure the ceiling fan box
Screw two #8 x 1” screws through the top wall of the ceiling fan box into the 2”x4”, tightening them snugly.
- Mount the fan mounting plate
After drywall installation, attach the ceiling fan mounting plate to the bottom of the ceiling fan box using two #8 x 3-1/2” screws, ensuring they pass through the clearance holes and into the 2”x4”. Tighten the screws snugly.
