This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the 9X3C50 DuraGard connector for industrial applications.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Torque wrench, Ohmmeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Conduit adapter
- Prepare the installation area
Turn off all power to the installation area to prevent electrical shock. Ensure that the area is clean and free of debris.
- Mount the connector
Secure the 9X3C50 connector to the designated mounting surface using the provided mounting screws. Ensure it is level and firmly attached.
- Connect the conduit adapter
Insert the conduit adapter into the gland nut and thread it onto the liquid-tight conduit connector. Torque the connection to a minimum of 50 IN/LB.
- Prepare the wiring
Slide the seal and liner over the supply wires, allowing 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches of wire to extend beyond the edge of the liner. Strip the wire ends according to the amperage rating.
- Insert wires into terminals
Loosen the pressure screws on the connector, insert the stripped ends of each conductor into the corresponding terminals based on your established wiring pattern, and tighten the screws to the specified torque.
- Reassemble the connector
Reassemble the interior of the connector into the housing, ensuring that the liner is flush with the top edge of the housing. Thread the gland nut onto the housing and tighten it to 40-80 IN/LB.
- Perform electrical tests
Before connecting to power, use an ohmmeter to check continuity and verify correct phasing and grounding connections. Ensure there are no short circuits or unwanted grounds.
- Power on and test the system
Once all tests are completed successfully, connect the power and test the system to ensure proper functionality.
