Overview

The ABB SPHDOS16 is a Hi-Break rated drawout substructure designed for Power Break™ II breakers, specifically for the OS16 frame rating at 800 Amperes. This heavy-duty assembly facilitates simplified breaker inspection and maintenance without the need to de-energize the main bus structure. The substructure is engineered to support both standard and Hi-Break Power Break™ II breakers. Key features include a racking mechanism drive, cooperating interlock systems, and precision-engineered primary stabs. These primary stabs are equipped with pre-drilled holes for direct bolting to busbars or terminal lugs, simplifying electrical connections and installation. Additional mounting holes are provided for bolting shelves or support structures, enhancing system modularity. Control wiring is managed through draw-out secondary disconnects, available in 'TEST' and 'CONNECTED' positions. Up to 72 control circuits can be accommodated via 36-position plug-style secondary disconnect blocks, factory-mounted on each side of the draw-out breaker. Substructure secondary disconnects (SPDOSD36S) must be ordered separately for control wiring. If auxiliary switches or communications modules are used, two disconnects (SPDOSD36S and SPDOSD36B) are required. Field-installable accessories such as dead-front shutters (SPDSS series), bypass switches, and padlock devices are available to enhance safety and operational compliance. Manufactured in the US, the SPHDOS16 is a code-compliant solution for low-voltage power distribution systems in demanding industrial applications, including commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, and utility substations. Its robust construction ensures long-term reliability and maximizes system uptime.
